Great location to stroll to historic sites. 2nd Floor Bedroom appeared very nice with great king-sized bed. Problems appeared that a $200.00 per night stay should not have. Heavy dust under bed & furniture and on curtains/windows; tiny bathroom with peeling wallpaper & a shower/tub with mildew and stains. Rear exterior stairs with burned out lights making evening sojourns difficult. Breakfast well presented, but ordinary. Management tried to correct some problems, but this B & B is not a keeper.
Some Highs - Too Many Lows
March 30th, 2010Absolutely Great Experience
March 29th, 2010This was a perfect B & B. Our room was on the second floor and we had our own porch to sit out on and to have coffe and a glass of wine in the early evening. The street was so quiet, but we just a couple of minutes from the downtown area. Bonnie provided us with restaurant reviews, suggestions as to what to do, and was a wonderful hostess. Her breakfasts were excellent and we so enjoyed visiting with her other guests. It was so wonderful! Can’t think of one negative thing to say. We’ve stayed in a lot of B & B’s and this is a top one.
Loved Alexander Homestead
March 28th, 2010My wonderful husband and I chose the Alexander Homestead for our wedding and honeymoon based on their website. I have to say that it was exactly what we expected. The home is wonderful and inviting. It is very easy to feel at home there. The entire house if full of beautiful antiques that really take you back in time. The furnishings are just wonderful.
We were greeted at the door by Bonnie, who is a great host. She showed us to our room, confirmed the plans for our romantic wedding, gave us maps of St Augustine along with recommendations of the best restaurants and attractions.
Our wedding was in the parlor and it was very romantic. We left everything in the hands of Bonnie and every detail was just perfect. She even prepared the top layer of our wedding cake for the trip home and gave us directions on just how to preserve it for our anniversary.
I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our trip, but let me conclude by saying that we will be going back every year to celebrate our anniversary in this magical place.

Wonderful B&B
March 27th, 2010This was a wonderful B&B. Bonnie the owner was so nice and accommodating. It was our first visit to St. Augustine and she gave us restaurant recommendations (which were fabulous) and a map of the area with high points.
The room was beautiful with a front porch and rocking chairs. I was up early and had my coffee on the porch. I can’t even tell you how relaxing it was to get away from the noise of the city and just have an hour to myself with a good book and hot coffee.
The breakfast was delicious and the company (the other guests) were so great to talk to and get to know. We could have talked for hours.
Thanks to Bonnie and her staff for a wonderful, relaxing weekend in her beautiful city. We will definitely be back!!

~Stop Reading The Reviews and Book Your Stay~ It’s the BEST!!!
March 26th, 2010How do you possibly describe such a beautifully charming place that seems straight from a fairytale?
My husband took me here to celebrate my last birthday in my 20’s (not to reveal my age) this past October. I will save you the details of my trip step-by-step and just focus on the important!
#1 Bonnie is amazing! From our arrival to our departure she was nothing short of charming, helpful, and over all a fabulous host. If I could make one suggestion to you-don’t be late for breakfast!! Breakfast (her cinnamon biscuit thing) was my favorite!! I enjoyed meeting everyone and hearing the stories as to why they were there.
#2 Take a second and enjoy the home. I am a collector of antiques and Bonnie’s home is beautiful to say the least. If you aren’t big into “everything old” grab a fresh bake goodie (they are always downstairs on the buffet) and relax on the porch. Just for 5 minutes. The scenery and overall feel of the place just cannot be put into words.
#3 Follow Bonnie’s suggestions on places to eat. She never led us in the wrong direction. There are some great places to enjoy that you will miss if you are not looking for them.
Overall I loved the whole experience. Though we travel quite frequently and 95% of the time we stay in fast paced hotels that know you buy a room number and see dollar signs every time you walk past the counter, this place was a nice calming change to our “norm”. We will be back, but this time I am calling ahead and requesting more cinnamon biscuits!
Wonderful time at Alexander Homestead
March 25th, 2010We stayed at the Alexander Homestead this past weekend and had an amazing time. The inn and its rooms are very nice! The innkeeper, Bonnie, was so hospitable, and helpful. We had a cozy fire in the fireplace each night! Bonnie’s breakfasts were so yummy! We loved the french toast. She recommended the Raintree for dinner and we liked that very much as well. All in all is was a great trip and we are so happy we stayed at the Alexander Homestead.
The Best Vacation
March 24th, 2010My husband and I loved this B & B. It was his first experience in a B & B. I have stayed in four others in St. Augustine. This by far was my absolute favorite. The house was decorated to the period it was built in the late 1800’s. Bonnie made the house a true home. The smell of fresh cookies, and awesome breakfast everyday. You really felt as if you stepped back in time.
Bonnie was very accomodating to my special dietary needs for breakfast and even sat with all of us the last morning and had a cup of coffee.
The staff were polite and effiicient. By the time we ate breakfast, our room was cleaned for the day. We stayed four days. We stayed in the Sweet William, the largest of rooms with an awesome king bed. The other rooms we peaked in at were each charming in there own way.
It was the perfect place to relax and also swing on the front porch…
We were sad to leave and cannot wait to return.
Enchanted Engagement
March 23rd, 2010It was my first stay at a bed & breakfast and it couldn’t have been more perfect at the Alexander Homestead. Not only was the Bed & Breakfast quaint and cozy, the breakfasts were delicious! This B&B will always hold a special place in my heart, for it was the setting of our engagement. Bonnie worked closely with my fiance to make the weekend in St. Augustine a dream-come-true for us. She booked a horse-drawn carriage that picked us up at the door and took us on a private tour around the city. When the ride came to the end in front of a romantically-lit Alexandria Homestead, Matt, my now fiance, got down on one knee in the carriage and asked me to be his bride. I felt like Cinderella!! We then went back into our Alexandria room, where Bonnie had candles in the fireplace, red rose petals, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a chilled bottle of champagne waiting for us. It was such a special touch! Then at breakfast the next morning, I was able to show off my gorgeous new ring to the other B&B guests, whom felt like family for the weekend. Thank you Bonnie and your beautiful bed & breakfast for making this special time for us so romantic and unforgettable! We will definitely be back to stay in the future (maybe for one of our wedding anniversaries!)
Sincerely,
Dena P. & Matthew B.
Romantic and homey, just Beautiful
March 22nd, 2010The setting was lovely, just far enough from the downtown area, and our hostess, Bonnie, was the picture of graciousness, right down to accomodating special parking and pm coffee service outside our room door. We can’t wait to come back!
Beautiful and intimate
March 21st, 2010Bonnie, the owner and hostess, was just lovely and she set everything up for us perfectly! We had a wonderful private carriage ride, a one hour massage that ended up being two hours, and a teriffic dinner at 95 Cordova. Bonnie’s breakfasts were also a delight! We had her “world famous” biscuits (they truly are devine), along with vegatable quiche, her homemade granola, almond french toast, and her extraordinary scrambled eggs. Just what we were looking for!
As for the room itself, we stayed in the “Victoriana” which was beatifully decorated. It had its own private porch, a fireplace, and a sitting tub. The period antiques were nice touches. The only drawback for me was that I felt the mattress was a little too firm, but otherwise, the room was great. The location of the B&B itself was teriffic because we were only minutes away from everything so we walked almost everywhere.
The weekend was just perfect and we really appreciated Bonnie’s personal touches on everything from the food, to the room, to her assistance in planning. We would definitely recommend this B&B!
